DuPont recently donated 500 square yards of Mohawk’s SmartStrand Contract with DuPont Sorona carpet to the National September 11 Memorial Museum. The SmartStrand with Sorona carpet is used in the public areas of the museum. the auditorium, the collection viewing rooms, and the private spaces such as the family room are where the carpet was used. The carpet helps the design team fulfill their vision as well as the pursuit of the LEED Gold certification.

DuPont Sorona is made of 37% annually renewable plant-based ingredients. The production of DuPont Sorona uses 30% less energy and it releases 63% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than the production of petroleum-based materials. The auditorium and the room dedicated to the 9/11 families are carpeted with Mohawk’s broadloom, and the office area and the South Tower Screening Room use modular carpet tiles.
