There are so many different designs and colors that you can use on your flooring. You can go for traditional looks all the way to contemporary and art deco with different types of flooring and paint. However, this is one of the most unique types of flooring I have ever seen. If you love history or traveling then this type of flooring is a must have in your home.
A map as the floor creates such an attention grabbing quality to any room. You can create a gorgeous study or living room by making the entire floor a map. You could do a map of your state, your country, your favorite ocean, or even maps of historic battles or journeys that you love. Personally, I would choose an ancient mythology map that has all of the creatures and gods illustrated on the map.
Many of the map floors that I have seen are done by paint, which is an easy way to create this type of flooring if you are an artist or have a friend with artistic ability that can easily paint the chosen map on the floor. However, if you are like myself, who can barely draw a stick figure, then you could always go to a print shop, have the image enlarged, and then you can create the flooring in an easier way. After enlarging the image of the map, you can paste the image to the floor directly in pieces, or you can paste the image to tiles or planks and then install the flooring like that.
Never be afraid to show your personality in your home, and always remember that the floor is just another area where you can show off your personal style.
